Summer Quays Adventures – Boat trips – 60 Minute little adventures

Hop aboard the Princess Katherine for one of our boat trips around the Salford Quays and Manchester Ship Canal.  This 60 min round trip gives you an insight into the history of the area and a unique view of Manchester including Media City, Old Trafford and the disused dry docks.  

Salford Quays is quickly becoming a must do on the list of Manchester’s place to be with the Imperial War Museum, Lowry Arts Theatre, BBC & Granada studios as well as the Lowry Outlet and a host of bars and restaurants it’s the perfect place to spend the day.

Maybe you’ll even spot a TV star or footballing hero!

Tea and coffee is available on all our sightseeing trips, or you can choose something stronger from the fully stocked bar while you cruise along the waterway. The boat departs from outside the Lowry Centre up to five times a day. See below for a map of where we pick up and drop off from.

The Princess Katherine will be moored just underneath the Millennium Footbridge outside of the Lowry Theatre. Please arrive 10 minutes before boarding.

60 minute round trips departing from the centre of Manchester.  

Commentary covers the earlier history of the River Irwell and the Manchester Ship Canal. We will be serving mince pies and mulled wine on each of our trips this winter.

Spinningfields is at the heart of Manchester’s City Centre. With the Museum of Science of Industry and popular Castlefield area just a short walk away, as well as the impressive John Rylands Library and the information People’s History Museum.

Manchester Canal Cruise

An Expedition – Salford Quays to Ellesmere Port / Ellesmere Port to Salford Quays

From 2018 will be offering trips to Ellesmere Port for public sale. A 4 1/2 hour trips along the 120 year old Manchester Ship Canal, through the historic bridges that span it and the industry that still holds on along it’s banks. An opportunity is provided to explore the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port including time for lunch, for both those taking the first journey to the Museum and those opting to return with us back to Salford Quays.

 

Pick up and Drop off

On the morning journey we pick up from our boarding point under the Millenium Footbridge next to the Lowry Theatre at Salford Quays. Those travelling on the afternoon journey can meet at the coach park at Salford Quays where they meet our representative who will take them to Ellesmere Port by coach where they can board the Princess Katherine for the return journey.
